Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata is a town and comune in the province of Teramo, in the Abruzzo region of central Italy, located in the Vibrata river valley. This is Adelina Latini Iacobucci's birth place. She came to the US as a young girl of 13 with her mother Philomena and brothers. Her father Mariano came several years earlier settling in Buffalo NY to prepare the way for the family.

Situated on the border with Marche in the northern part of the Val Vibrata, named after the river flowing through it, it is divided into an old fortified part, Faraone Vecchia, now abandoned, one of the most ancient medieval settlements, dating back to Lombard times (VII-IX centuries), and a new modern, populous center. Sant'Egidio is a prosperous industrial centre with factories producing jeans, shirts, confetti, furniture, etc. Its factories and markets are visited by a great number of people in search for quality and low prices.




Pratola Peligna is a town and comune in the Province of L'Aquila, in the Abruzzo region of central Italy. As of 2015, it has a population of 7,652 inhabitants. This is Salvatore Iacobucci's home town.

This proud town, rich in history and traditions which takes its roots in the Peligna valley and has been built around the old fortified center terra, on a hilly contryside of remarkable beauty where the Morrone Mountain stans out. As one of the largest towns of L'Aquila. It is situated on a hill to the left of the river Sagittario and its past is linked to St. Pietro Celestino, who is the founder of the monastic order bearing the same name.

Protola is known all over Abruzzo for its big festival in honour of St. Maria della Libera (1st sunday of May ) to whom an imposing sanctuary has been dedicated, whose history and religious importance make it of interregional interest. It was built in 1500 to thank Our Lady who had saved them from the plague and it was then improved and enlarged so as to achieve its present majesty. Pratola has a historical center rich in works of St. Pietro Celestino, in frescos and sculptures and a rich Museum of the rural civilization has been built in the suburbs. Besides agriculture, which has been for many years the main source of income for the local population, flourishing craftsmanship and more recently a good industrial activity have developed. Its delicious wines such as Cerasuolo and Montepulciano are also famous and have been since Ovid and Pliny times.




Guiseppe Rosato, father of Mary (Galardi) and Joseph Rosati came from Pratola Peligna' Guiseppe Rosato married Adelina on September 1st 1923 in Buffalo, NY becoming Adelina's first husband. His tragic death in December of 1925 was 2 months before Joseph was born.

Salvatore Iacobucci was Guiseppe's cousin and knew of this tragedy, he then married Adelina and took care of her and her two children as his own. Salvatore and Adelina then had 6 more children, Albert, Frances, Dominic, Salvatore, Richard and John.
